Apt to cake after moisture absorption when laid in air for a long time.A little green because of Fe2+ ,yellow when Fe2+ is oxided to Fe3+.Soluble in water easily,and water solution is acid.

Aluminum sulphate is used in water purification and as a mordant in 

dyeing and printing textiles. In water purfication, it causes impurities to coagulate which are 

removed as the particulate settles to the bottom of the container or more easily filtered. This 

process is called coagulation or flocculant.
